Location:
Hogfish Lodge is located in a small mountain community surrounding a small private lake. This lake is a popular swimming and fishing hole for the community residents and their guest. So, don't forget to bring your swimsuit and your lucky fishing rod. If you prefer to get out and explore the area; mountain biking in Tsali Recreation area is about 10 minutes up the road; white water rafting on the Nantahala River takes about 15 minutes to get to; the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Bryson City is about 25 minutes and the Cherokee entrance is about 35 minutes away. The drive to and from Hogfish Lodge will take you past beautiful scenic overlooks of Fontana Lake along HWY 28 and along a beautiful mountain stream lined by mountain laurel.
Exterior:
The forest surrounding this log cabin wraps it in a natural environment of peace and calm. This peaceful environment make Hogfish Lodge the perfect vacation getaway spot to truly relax and reconnect with the people who mater most to you. When you pull up to the cabin park under the carport and you can unload you vehicle in the shade or out of the rain. The front porch has enough rocking chairs for everyone to sit in the sun and listen to the birds playing in the forest while enjoying a glass of lemon aid or watching the fireflies dancing around the yard in the cool evening air.
Entry Level:
The front door opens to enter between the living room on the right and the game room to the left. Upon entering Hogfish Lodge the casually comfortable and nostalgic decor eases you out of the stressfully hurried pace of contemporary life and into a more relaxed time when vacations were about spending time with family and friends enjoying the simpler things in life. The living room on the right has comfortable leather sofa and recliner. Though the stone fireplace has modern gas logs it still gives off that traditional warm glow on cool nights. The large flat screen satellite TV might be modern but it is generally a welcomed inclusion to keep track of current news or to watch the big games with friends. To the left of the front door is a full regulation size pool table. Directly across from the front door a hallway leads to the large kitchen on the left. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare a large family style meal and a dishwasher to help with the clean up. Across from the kitchen is a large country style oak dinning table that can seat up to 8 guest. When diner is over the stairs up to the bedrooms on the second floor are at the back of the dining room.
Upper Level / Loft:
At the top of the stairs from the dining room are three bedrooms and two full baths. Atop the stairs and to the right is the kids room where three nostalgic frames house a full size and two twin size beds. Across from the kids room is another bedroom. This bedroom has a queen size bed. A full bathroom for the first two bedrooms in accessed from the hallway separating them. A little further down the hallway is the master suite. The master bedroom has a king size bed and private bath with shower only.
